COP21 SERIES: Calling for blogs on climate change and the right to health

Paris2015

Climate change threatens the health of all people and the planet with its most severe effects on people who already struggle to enjoy their human rights.

At the end of November world leaders will meet in Paris at the UN Climate Conference (COP21). The purpose is to achieve a legally binding and universal agreement on climate which will keep global warming below 2°C.

Ahead of the COP21 Paris Conference, the Health and Human Rights Journal will be publishing a series of blogs about climate change, the right to health, and COP21.

Mary Robinson, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Climate Change, former President of Ireland and UN Human Rights Commissioner, will launch the series. She wrote a Foreword in the June 2014 Health and Human Rights Journal special issue on Climate Justice and the Right to Health. Co-editor of that issue, Jay Lemery, also contributed a blog on climate change to our recent SDG SERIES.

We are inviting contributions to the series, which will begin in mid October. Please send your blogs of approximately 500-700 words, to the Journal email: hhrsubmissions@hsph.harvard.edu, by October 15.
